Learning Journal week 2

Reflect on studying in the UK and your country.

I am from Belarus and the school where I studied there differs from Bellerbys college where I study now considerably in many ways. This, in general, is common to every school in my country comparing to schools in the UK. To begin with, teaching styles are different. So, for instance, in Belarus students study at least 13 subjects, whereas in the UK it is up to students to decide what subjects they would like to study and the amount of them. Therefore, workload is also different as in Belarus students have to do homework for each subject every day, while in the UK, normally one piece of homework is given to students per week. What is about friendship in schools, in my country we had around 1 thousand of student, with around 30 students in a class, which is much less than in the UK. Therefore, the majority of people have known each other and had close relationship. In the UK, due to high amounts of students at schools, the amount of friends and mates is higher and it is easier to socialise as there are a lot of events held by schools, which is not common for Belarussian schools.
